Senior Kosovan politician explains the three reasons why NATO intervened in Kosovo

Sunday marked the 20 anniversary of the NATO bombings on Serbian forces. Senior Kosovan politician and leader of Self Determination Party, Albin Kurti explains the three reasons why NATO intervened in the conflict between Kosovo and Serbia. According to him, the first reason relates to the fact that “the president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic did not agree to sign the document of Rambouillet (although it favoured Serbia)”.

The senior politician from Kosovo offers the second reason: “So that Kosovo did not become like Bosnia. With Srebrenica and Recak in mind, the most powerful alliance in the world could not allow another genocide in Europe.”

Meanwhile, Kurti also explains the third reason, which, according to him led to the intervention of NATO forces in Kosovo: “So that Macedonia would not become like Kosovo. The fighting between KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) and Serbian forces could not be kept isolated for a very long time. Albanians were under attack and the involvement of Macedonia in the war would turn this conflict into a regional conflict (to say the very least).” /ibna/
